Group B streptococcus endocarditis associated with multiple pulmonary septic emboli
Endocarditis is a rare presentation of group B streptococcal infection. Its association with pulmonary septic embolism was only barely studied and limited data is available up to date. Multiple septic emboli is a common complication of bacterial endocarditis, but only a few cases have been documented in relation to group B streptococcus. We present the case of an 87 year old female patient with...
متن کاملGroup G Streptococcus Infective Endocarditis in Association With Colon Cancer
Group G streptococcus has been increasingly reported as a cause of bacteremia and infective endocarditis. The association between various groups of streptococcus with malignancy has been well established. We report a case of bacterial endocarditis caused by nonhemolytic group B streptococcus (GBS) in a 67-year-old man with no predisposing risk factors. Nonhemolytic GBS strains rarely cause illness and are usually detected in perinatal infections. We believe this to be the first reported case of endocarditis caused by a nonhemolytic strain of GBS.
